If you are on city water or municipal water and receive a water bill then the best way to find out what is in your water is to call your local supplier. The local water supplier will have documentation of water tests they have done showing contaminants found in the water supply. Another useful way to find out what is in your water is visit www.ewg.org/tapwater/yourwater/, this is the National Tap Water Quality Database. Click on your state or enter your zip code then select your water supplier. This website will show results from tests done at local water suppliers. There may be some areas that do not have results from tests and in this case the only way to see a list of contaminants is to call or go down to your local water supplier. There are test kits available for basic water testing of common contaminants. |
